Cafe Staff "Gung-Ho" for the New Year

Spoke with Rob D., a manager with Destination Cafe, today. He says the cafe staff are very much "gung-ho" for the new year after a successful December.

The cafe attended two festivals in December. One featured fair trade products at a local Mississauga high school that caters to music and arts students. Organized by the schools' student council, the festival took place for two days during the lunch hours of 11 A.M. and 1 P.M. "We did really well," says Rob. "The high school was really impressed with the products. We sold a lot of products."

The products in question consisted of gift baskets made up of coffee, chocolates and other goodies. Ranging in size from small to large, the gift baskets were put together by Marisa F., "a shining star" among D.C. staff. All the baskets produced were sold by Festival's end.

Another festival that took place is known as Fair December, an event that has been taking place regularly for the past ten years. Destination Cafe was asked to provide the coffee for this event, which featured products from local merchants.

All in all, staff at the cafe are pumped for the New Year. In late January, Destination Cafe will be back at Cawthra Secondary to provide coffee and other refreshments to students and faculty attending their admissions sessions, a two-day event during which time students will apply to enter the school. And the cafe is also hoping to have their new website up and running by early in February.
